Atlético Madrid are in third place, two points behind Barcelona.

The race for the Champions League places is also very close, with Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Betis all within four points of each other. Real Sociedad are currently in fourth place, thanks to their superior head-to-head record against Villarreal. Villarreal are in fifth place, one point behind Real Sociedad. Betis are in sixth place, two points behind Villarreal.

The race for the Europa League places is also heating up, with Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna and Valencia all within three points of each other. Athletic Bilbao are currently in seventh place, thanks to their superior head-to-head record against Osasuna. Osasuna are in eighth place, one point behind Athletic Bilbao. Valencia are in ninth place, two points behind Osasuna.

The relegation battle is also very close, with Elche, Almería and Getafe all within three points of each other. Elche are currently in 17th place, thanks to their superior head-to-head record against Almería. Almería are in 18th place, one point behind Elche. Getafe are in 19th place, two points behind Almería.

The next round of Laliga fixtures will be played on 23 and 24 December.
