According to a statement issued by Islamabad Police, ASI Naveed Iqbal was stationed at Kohsar Police Station. ۔ The wife and children were killed in a car on ASI Guldana Road. It may be recalled that the situation in Murree has deteriorated due to heavy snowfall and tourist rush and after the deaths of 16 to 19 people in their vehicles, the tourist spot has been declared a disaster.

A statement issued by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that one thousand vehicles have been stranded in Murree since last night. He said that 16 to 19 people were killed in vehicles in Murree. Sheikh Rashid said that FC and Rangers have also been called for rescue operations in Murree, besides Pakistan Army troops have also been called.

He said that all the roads leading to Murree have been closed, only those carrying blankets, medicines and food items will be allowed to go and it has been decided to close the roads for pedestrians as well. On the other hand, the Punjab government has declared Murree a disaster area and declared emergency and directed all concerned departments to take all possible steps.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar has ordered to open government rest houses and offices for tourists and directed that all resources should be utilized to evacuate the stranded tourists in Murree. Thousands of tourists flocked to the site from the start, but heavy snowfall caused the worst traffic jams on the roads, and large numbers of tourists, including women and children, spent the night in open-air vehicles in the freezing cold.
