August 12, 2022) The local court of Islamabad sent Tehreek-e-Ansaf leader Shahbaz Gul to jail on judicial remand, however, the police challenged the decision to reject Shahbaz Gul's request for physical remand. The appeal for revision was filed by the prosecutor Rana Hassan Abbas. The diary branch objected to the revision application. It may be noted that the case related to inciting rebellion against institutions was heard in the District and Sessions Court today. Shahbaz Gul's request for extension of physical remand has been rejected. According to Geo News, Islamabad Police produced Shehbaz Gul in the court of Duty Magistrate Umar Shabbir on completion of his two-day physical remand. Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion and the court directed the non-essential persons to leave the court room and allowed the legal team to meet Shahbaz Gul.
On the request of the lawyers, Shahbaz Gul's handcuffs were released after which he met his legal team. Faisal Chaudhry appealed to the PTI leaders to leave the courtroom and said that the judge has come, keep silence in the courtroom. As soon as Shahbaz Gul reached the court room, he whispered in PTI leader Ali Nawaz Awan's ear while the police requested for further physical remand of Shahbaz Gul.
The investigating officer stated in the court that Naji took the CD of the TV program and matched the audio of Shehbaz Gul, one mobile was left in his car and the other was with him. Shahbaz Gul while giving a statement in the court said that it was four o'clock at that time no mobile phone was working because there was no signal. The PTI leader said that no physical check-up was done and I was not being allowed to meet the lawyers, I was kept awake all night in the jail.
