One in four people in Gaza has died of starvation, UN

 December 22, 2023

The food crisis in Gaza has become very serious, with one in four people dying of starvation.

This revelation was made in a report issued by the United Nations and other organizations, which highlighted the humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli brutality.

The report noted that the rate of hunger in Gaza has surpassed even countries such as Afghanistan and Yemen, which have experienced famine in recent years.

The report warned that the food crisis in Gaza is worsening with each passing day and that this is due to insufficient aid reaching there.

Arif Hussain, an official of the United Nations World Food Program, said that 'the situation cannot be worse than this, I have never seen the situation deteriorate on such a large scale and so quickly'.

It should be remembered that as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7, more than 20,000 citizens of Gaza have been martyred, while more than 52,000 have been injured.

More than half of the martyred and injured are children and women, while millions of people have been displaced due to Israeli brutality.

According to the World Health Organization, Gaza's medical system has also collapsed due to Israeli aggression and only 9 of its 36 hospitals are partially functional and all of them are located in southern Gaza.

According to a report issued by the United Nations, only 10 percent of the food needed by Gaza has reached the citizens during the past weeks.

This report has been jointly prepared and released by 23 organizations including the United Nations, in which it was stated that 576,600 citizens of Gaza have died due to hunger.

According to Arif Hussain, almost everyone in Gaza is hungry and there is widespread disease because people's immune systems have been severely weakened due to lack of food.

UN aid chief Martin Griffiths said the report was not surprising.

He said that we have been warning of such a situation for weeks and the devastation on a daily basis can only lead to the spread of hunger and diseases.

This report has been issued when the UN Security Council resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza has not been voted on for 4 days.
