ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken a U-turn on its selection for the post of Public Gathering's Public Records Panel (PAC) director, concluding the name of Sheik Waqas Akram instead of Sher Afzal Marwat, sources told Geo News on Monday.

As indicated by the sources, the political council will illuminate PTI pioneer Imran Khan about the choice to pull out Marwat's name for the PAC chairmanship.

PTI Secretary General and Head of the Resistance in the Public Gathering Omar Ayub Khan and Congressperson Shibli Faraz had called a political board meeting to pull out Marwat's name, said the sources, adding that they recommended Akram's name as his substitution.

During casting a ballot, the sources added, Asad Qaiser, Sheharyar Afridi, Shandana Gulzar, and Zulfi Bukhari approached for Marwat.

Notwithstanding, talking on the turn of events, Marwat said that he was neither welcomed nor counseled in the political council meeting.

The 53-year-old government official, who hails from Lakki Marwat, stays at the center of attention because of his unpolished and questionable comments.

He has likewise been in constant disagreement with party individuals and others due to contrasting conclusions and remarks.

On April 30, PTI Executive Counselor Gohar Ali Khan, on the proposal of the PTI organizer, declared that his party had finished Marwat's name for the PAC director.

"All debates are over [now] as the party has picked the name of Marwat for the opening," said the PTI director during his collaboration with writers in Rawalpindi.
