7th International Conference on Earth Sciences Pakistan 2024 concluded successfully

Peshawar (Urdu Point Akhbartaza Tareen - APP. June 15, 2024) The 7th International Conference on Earth Sciences Pakistan 2024 was successfully concluded in the first week of June at the National Center of Excellence in Geology at the Bara Gili Summer Campus of the University of Peshawar. The conference was organized as a platform for global collaboration and innovation in earth and environmental sciences.

Under the guidance of NCEG Director Dr. Liaqat Ali and with the support of Patron-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan, Vice-Chancellor Peshawar University and other Patrons Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahirshah, the conference was attended by people from different backgrounds. Gathered more than 250 participants. Eminent scientists and academics from Egypt, Netherlands, Oman, UK and China shared their research and experience with postgraduate students and industrialists.


The conference covered a wide field of topics from economic and mineral resources to environmental concerns and emerging technologies. Pakistan's mineral reserves, energy potential, geological studies, engineering challenges, and climate change adaptation strategies were discussed. A special workshop on policy frameworks for environmental disasters and risks, particularly for critical infrastructure, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing environmental issues.

An essential aspect of Earth Science Pakistan was to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange. Exhibitions by various organizations gave the participants a glimpse of the latest innovations in the field while networking opportunities provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction between industry associates and researchers. Prof. Dr. Mark van der Meide was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the conference.

He emphasized the importance of global cooperation and transition towards sustainable energy solutions. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Center of Excellence in Geology and ITC paving the way for future academic and research collaboration. Acknowledging the support of sponsors, organizers, speakers and participants, Dr. Waqas Ahmed Chief Organizer thanked them for making Earth Science Pakistan a success.

Shields and certificates were also presented to commemorate their involvement and dedication. Sponsors including Higher Education Commission Islamabad, Pakistan Science Foundation, Directorate of Soil and Water Conservation Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Center (PASTIC), Islami The support of the Organization for Cooperation on Scientific and Technical Cooperation (COMSTEC), De Gaulle & Magnaton and Pakistan Petroleum Limited was instrumental in ensuring the success of the conference.

The conference not only showcased Pakistan's expertise in Earth Sciences but also promoted global cooperation to tackle environmental challenges. As the scientific community continues to strive for innovation and sustainability, conferences like Earth Sciences Pakistan serve as a foundation for growth and positive change.
