According to Kashmir Media Service, Muttahida Majlis Ulema led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned this heinous act and said that although drinking alcohol in open and public places is strictly prohibited under the law, it is Why and how the permission was given is a matter of concern.
Majlis Ulema said that the people of Kashmir are hospitable and respect the tourists coming to the Valley as guests, but in the Muslim-majority Valley, which is the land of saints, Sufis and religious elders, such an un-Islamic and unethical practice is unacceptable. Will not be tolerated.
He said that in the religion of Islam, the harmful effects of this practice and the consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited in the society. And avoid indulging in such un-Islamic and unethical practices for petty gain. Majlis also appealed to the tourists to respect the moral and religious values of Kashmir.
