Lahore (Urdu Point Newspaper Latest - APP. 09 June 2024) An online meeting was held in Livestock Department about Livestock Card, Animal Traceability and Disease Control Compartments. The meeting was chaired by Livestock Secretary Muhammad Masood Anwar. The meeting was attended by the directors of all the divisions and the director general. Secretary Livestock said that Chief Minister Punjab has given in-principle approval for Livestock Kisan Card and Animal Identification and Traceability projects and has directed to prepare a PC-1 about these projects.

In the meeting, Directorate of Planning and Evaluation gave a detailed briefing on Kisan Card. Secretary Livestock directed all the Divisional Directors to spare no effort to make Kisan Card Scheme a success and ensure merit and efficiency.


Secretary Livestock said that verified information regarding Punjab Animal Identification and Traceability System should be collected immediately by all Deputy and Additional Directors so that registration and tagging of animals can be completed as soon as possible.


Secretary Livestock further said that the government plans to create disease free zones and disease control compartments in a phased manner. In Bahawalpur Division, immediate work will be started on disease free zone as there has been vaccination of foot and mouth disease for many years with the support of FAO. is going Apart from this, disease free zones will also be established in Bajwat, Mandi Bahauddin and Taunsa areas of Sialkot district. Moreover, more than 1000 disease control compartments will also be established across Punjab.

Muzaffargarh (Urdu Point Newspaper Latest - APP. 09 June 2024) Director General Agriculture (Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides), Punjab Dr. Amir Rasool visited Muzaffargarh. Inspected the cotton crop and provided guidance to farmers on better management issues, water scouting, pest scouting and proportionate and balanced use of fertilizers. Pest scouting was also conducted by field staff under his supervision to know the extent of economic damage of pests on cotton.

On this occasion, Director General Pest Warning Punjab Dr. Aamir Rasool directed the field staff to guide as many farmers as possible regarding pest scouting and maintenance of cotton crop on a daily basis. He further said that in the ongoing activities in the field. Accelerate and spend more time in the field with the farmers as the cotton crop has now entered a critical stage.


At this stage the cotton crop needs intensive care for which it is the need of the hour to ensure timely technical guidance to the growers. He further said that according to the instructions of Agriculture Secretary Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahu, establishment of facility center for farmers is being implemented. At these Farmer Facilitation Centers, quality agricultural poisons, fertilizers and spray machinery are available under one roof at fixed rates. Meanwhile, he also visited the agricultural markets and strongly urged the Pesticides Inspectors to monitor the pesticide markets regularly.
