Beijing (Urdu Point News Latest - APP. 09 June 2024) After the recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to China, Chinese companies operating in Pakistan expect better opportunities for the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). are World-leading Chinese engineering and power companies such as CMEC and PowerChina Pakistan aim to increase investment and launch new projects in various sectors.

Speaking to the Chinese media, China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) Pakistan Vice General Manager Dai Bao has expressed great interest in cooperation with the Pakistani government during the second phase of CPEC. He acknowledged the recent high-level meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.


He said that the initial phase of CPEC laid a strong foundation for Pakistan's national destiny and established an important framework for further bilateral cooperation.


This development paves the way for the next steps and both parties are eagerly awaiting the new phase of CPEC. He said that the Prime Minister's visit to China signaled the beginning of this phase of transformation. The senior representative of the company highlighted that the two nations are eager to witness the fresh achievements and adopt the new approach of the common corridor.

China, drawing on its experience with reforms and openness, extends a friendly hand of support to Pakistan. Notably, CMEC became the first Chinese state-owned company to operate in Pakistan since 1981. "Having closely watched Pakistan's development, we are confident that both countries will benefit from this new chapter. Our company has diligently prepared for this moment over the past five years, including industrialization, Comprehensive plans have been made for cooperation in agricultural modernization, trade, health care, education, poverty alleviation and other sectors.

"With the unwavering support of both governments, we are committed to significantly contribute to this milestone project," PowerChina Chairman Ding Yan Zhang assured during his recent meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. That his company is ready to actively participate in hydropower, renewable energy and other sectors in Pakistan, which will improve the local energy infrastructure and promote green development.

Power Construction Corporation of China will explore more investment, engineering and construction opportunities in Pakistan with relevant international partners, taking full advantage of water, wind, solar and mining resources. Earlier, the company has completed several major projects including Port Qasim 2-660 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant, Dawood Wind Power Project, Haveli Bahadur Shah 1,230 MW Combined Cycle Coal-Fired Power Project, Tarbela Fourth Extension Hydropower Station. (Civil Works) While some solar and wind power projects are currently under construction in Sindh including the Tarbela 5 Extended Hydropower Project (Civil Works) and the mega project Diamer Bhasha Dam.
