ISLAMABAD: The government bureau has taken one more choice to execute a significant state of the Global Money related Asset (IMF) — to build the levy on power.


Sources let The News know that the government bureau has endorsed an expansion in the fundamental levy of power and endorsement has been taken through dissemination rundown.


Public Electric Power Administrative Power (Nepra) had sent the choice to the central government to expand the fundamental tax of power by a normal of Rs5.72 per unit.


As indicated by the public authority sources, the choice of the government bureau will be shipped off Nepra for uniform tax.


Following the endorsement of Nepra, the central government will give a warning to build the fundamental levy of power.


As per the sources, under the IMF conditions, the central government should build the essential power levy by July 10.


According to the choice of Nepra, the expansion in the fundamental duty of power will have an extra weight of about Rs600 billion on the power buyers.


Nepra will build the fundamental power duty for the monetary year 2024-25 and the endorsed increment will be executed from July 1, 2024, the sources said.


Nepra has endorsed an expansion in the normal fundamental power levy for the monetary year 2024-25 from the ongoing Rs29.78 to Rs.35.50 per unit.


In the keep going monetary year finished on June 30, the central government had expanded the essential power tax by Rs7.50 and in the monetary year 2022-23 the fundamental power tax had been expanded by Rs7.91 per unit.
