Manama (News Latest. August 8, 2022) In Bahrain, a major change has been made regarding pre-employment medical and the government has privatized the health check-up of domestic workers before employment. The relevant testing process is to be expedited so that overall health safety can be maintained. Pre-employment health screening for domestic workers has now been fully privatized in Bahrain, said Dr. Ayesha Ahmed Hussain, chief of the medical commission at the Ministry of Health, according to a report by the Bahrain News Agency. That this measure is for the implementation of Decision (21) of 2022, which amends certain clauses of Decision (30) of 2017, which deals with the regulation of medical examinations for foreigners.


He affirmed that the decision is aimed at expediting the process of health appointments and screening to maintain overall health security, updating the medical examination procedure for domestic workers across the kingdom. Strengthening a comprehensive database for foreign workers, improving and standardizing medical examination procedures, as well as strengthening the role of the private sector in conducting these tests.

Dr. Ayesha Ahmad Hussain said that a working group has been formed, which includes relevant stakeholders, to update the decision implementation mechanism, Ministry of Health, Information and E-Government Authority, Labor Market Regulatory Authority, and The National Health Regulatory Authority has been included in this working group. He said domestic workers must undergo these examinations within 5 days from the date of entry into the Kingdom, giving them the freedom to choose the nearest and most convenient health facility for themselves and their employers in terms of location and cost.
