31 years of illegal detention of Nelson Mandela Dr. Qasim Fakto of Occupied Kashmir

 

Srinagar (Urdu Point Newspaper Latest - APP. 06 February 2024) It has been 31 years since illegal detention of prominent Hurriyat leader Dr. Qasim Faktu in jail in illegally occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, November 13. Born in 1967 in Zal Dagar area of Srinagar, Dr. Faktu completed his PhD in Islamic Studies in 2016 during his illegal detention.

Dr. Qasim Faktu who is the husband of female Kashmiri Hurriyat leader and head of Dakhtran Millat Asia Andrabi. He has served as the head of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League and Muslim Religious Front. After that, their difficulties increased.


In 1993, the court issued orders to release him on bail.


He was arrested again in 2000 on charges of murder and later in 2003 he was sentenced to life imprisonment on the same false charge. In 2016, the Supreme Court of India rejected his request for release. His son Ahmed Bin Qasim has revealed that his father is being forced to join mainstream politics in India apart from brutal torture during his imprisonment.

He said that like his father, thousands of Kashmiris are imprisoned in Indian jails in false cases. Ahmed Bin Qasim said that he has never met his father under the open sky, he has always seen him in jail. He said that his father was subjected to inhuman torture including electric shocks during his imprisonment. Expressed concern about his father's safety in prison.

Despite the hardships in prison, Dr. Fakto is steadfast in his stand and has written more than 20 books on politics and social issues during this time. One of his books, "Bang", was recently launched in Islamabad by Kashmir Youth Alliance. The opening ceremony was held. The Chief Guest of the event was the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi. In recognition of his endless struggle and intellectual services, Dr. Qasim Faktu is called "Kashmir's Nelson Mandela". India imprisoned Kashmiris based on their political views. It is in flagrant violation of the Geneva Convention on Human Rights.
