May 28, 2024) The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his reaction to the rejection of the proposal related to Taiwan by the Seventeenth World Health Assembly. According to China Med Ya on Tuesday, he said that the General Committee of the 17th World Health Assembly and its plenary session had in their separate decisions "invited Taiwan to participate as an observer to the World Health Organization" by individual countries. The so called proposal was clearly rejected.
This is the eighth year in a row that the WHA has rejected so-called Taiwan proposals. China's position on Taiwan-related issues at the WHO has been widely understood and supported by the international community, and more than 100 countries have clearly expressed China's position in special letters to the WHO Director-General. support which shows that the One China principle is the desire of the international community and the trend of the times and cannot be challenged by any side.
The spokesperson said that we encourage Taiwan's medical experts to participate in WHO's technical activities and timely inform Taiwanese compatriots of public health emergencies notified by WHO through relevant channels, among others. By all means, we will continue to effectively protect the health rights of Taiwanese compatriots. China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Switzerland to other international organizations, Chen Shu, told media in Geneva that the facts have repeatedly proved that there is no way for political manipulation on Taiwan and the principle of one China. Any plan challenging this will fail.
